This weekend I took a trip to the Loch Lomond Sealife Aquarium in Balloch and took the opportunity to take some photographs of this unique building. Balloch itself is stunning and well worth a visit!
Designed by architect Kevin Howe and built by Northern Ireland-based Mivan, the £3.5m aquarium has is the first new Sea Life Centre to be built in the UK for 10 years.
From the ground the tall, curved elevation falls away dramatically against the sky and emphasizes the building height
It's iconic round footprint features a white render finish with masonry base storey, split in half by a glazed spiral stairwell to the top floor cafe.
Inside it's concrete construction is revealed with a large atrium which houses the main displays for the sea otters, rays, and a glazed tunnel for the sharks exhibit.
